The shooting and editing of "The Steppes", with a new title - "Beyond the steppes", (in Polish - "Stepy") has been finished. This Belgium - Polish cooperation is a feature debut of a Belgium director Vanja d'Alcantara. The story is about a deportation and exile of a young Polish woman sent with her baby child to Kazahstan at the beginning of World War II. The film marks the cast of Polish stars such as Agnieszka Grochowska, Aleksandra Justa, Borys Szyc. The shooting was located in Poland, Kazahstan and Belgium.
he work with estimated budget of €1.8m received support from the Film Centre of the French Community of Belgium, the VAF, MEDIA and the Polish Film Institute, after taking part in Cinemart in 2007.
Amulet Films was involved in the project as a Line Producer Poland, with Polish co-producer Akson Studio, supported by Polish Film Institute. The Belgium production was Need Production.
The film has been highly commended by authorities of Polish Film Institute. We are only awaiting the official opening coming soon!
